Nº de linhas de comboios e nº de barragens por país: uma questão de números ou de apoiar perspectivas sérias


Em muitos debates sobre energia cruzam-se números. Um dos mais claros é a questão dos comboios [ver mapa mundi dos comboios] e barragens [mais recentemente por causa do Tua, antigamente do Sabor]
Se a geração automobilística é das mais poluentes como é sabido e das mais dependentes de energia, como classificar/que índice colocar em termos de sustentabilidade o nosso país? 

Porque não saiu ainda do papel o Plano Nacional de Acção para a Eficiência Energética ? Porque aumentamos o nº de auto-estradas e não modernizamos os comboios e as linhas? Porque teimamos no transporte de importações por via TIR e transporte marítimo?

Paremos escutemos e...avancemos....
Sejam governos liberais ou de esquerda...a GB está também numa encruzilhada. Não sobrestimando a Inglaterra, mas gosto de a referir, uma vez que muitas quintas do Douro e o Douro (vinho) muito a eles se deve, para bem e para o mal...entre muitas heranças que estão entre nós. Consumers are paying the price for decades of bad transport policy


Transport is responsible for around a quarter of UK carbon emissions, with traffic on our roads accounting for a massive 90%. If this country is to meet its targets for tackling climate change this sector will have to make significant cuts in the years ahead.
Over the years our politicians have failed to grasp the nettle and the UK has been left with a car-dependent, oil-guzzling transport system.
Last month, government figures revealed that that the real cost of motoring – including vehicle purchase – fell by 7% between 1997 and 2010, while bus and rail fares increased by 24% and 17% respectively.
And the rise wasn't just under Labour. Between 1981 and 2010 motoring costs fell 10%, while public transport fares rose by more than half.
In recent weeks, train fares have gone up by more than 6% and our bus services are under increasing threat from budget cuts – at exactly the same time when motorists facing higher fuel prices might be tempted to look for cheaper alternatives.

China already counts more dams within its borders than any other country. It has paid a huge price for this development. Chinese dams have displaced an estimated 23 million people. Dam breaks in the country with the world's worst safety record have killed approximately 300,000 people. Scientific evidence suggests that one particular project, the Zipingpu Dam, may have triggered the devastating earthquake in Sichuan of 2008. Dams have also taken a huge toll on China's biodiversity, causing fisheries to suffer and driving charismatic species such as the Yangtze River Dolphin to extinction.
